Andover SpinSub to complement SpinBase turntable system
The American company Andover Audio will add a SpinSub subwoofer to its active speaker system for SpinBase players. The novelty is based on a pair of 6.5-inch woofers and a 100-W class D amplifier. All this is housed in a bass-reflex case, which is just the right size for installation in the base of the SpinStand system. It integrates the player and all of the aforementioned Andover Audio components.
A working subwoofer will not interfere with the playback of records thanks to the proprietary IsoGroove anti-vibration system. However, SpinSub is ready to work not only with SpinBase. It reproduces low frequencies from 32 Hz and is equipped with a low-cut filter for the range from 50 to 180 Hz. In addition, the SpinSub is capable of turning on when an input signal is present – so adding a subwoofer to the SpinStand will be a plug-and-forget approach.
The only problem is that the first version of SpinBase did not have a subwoofer output. For owners of such SpinBases, Andover offered an upgrade program. They can return the old device to the manufacturer and get a new one for half the price.
As for the SpinSub subwoofer, it will be on sale in the US from July for $300.
