Amazon updates Echo smart speaker lineup with spherical design and improved options
Amazon has introduced an updated line of devices for the Echo family. The new Echo 4, Echo Dot, Echo Dot Kids Edition (version for children), as well as Echo Show 10 should appear in the US in October.
The main external change to the Echo is the spherical design. This shape is said to have not only refreshed the product, but also allowed the engineers to implement a system that spreads sound evenly throughout the room. In addition, the spherical shape made it possible to install the speakers so that the speaker could work in stereo (there is support for Dolby Stereo Sound).
The new Echo also has a 3-inch woofer. The speaker will adjust the sound automatically – a special system will analyze the situation and improve playback. Another innovation in the Echo is the built-in Zigbee hub and support for the proprietary Amazon Sidewalk Bridge protocol for IoT without Wi-Fi.
The biggest device in every sense is the Echo Show 10 speaker. This model boasts a powerful AZ1 Neural Edge processor, tuned for AI applications and Alexa voice assistant. The company promised fast performance and accurate speech recognition. When it comes to audio and video, according to Amazon, everything is very serious here.
The speaker has two tweeters aimed at the listener, a woofer and audio optimization technology. Responsible for the picture is a 10-inch Full HD display. You can watch any content, there is built-in support for streaming services. By the way, the Echo Show 10 column will be able to constantly track the user’s location in order to turn towards him with the front side.
The younger model Echo Dot has also been improved: improved sound, modern design, expanded functionality. The Echo Dot Kids Edition for kids has animal prints and a specially trained Alexa that can answer kids’ questions and help with homework. Also, the function of reading children’s books by special subscription was added to the column.
Amazon made a special emphasis on the fact that all fresh Echoes are made from recycled material. The company allegedly used only environmentally friendly raw materials. Power saving modes are also provided.
Prices for the US are already known. For the flagship Echo they will ask for $ 100, for the Echo Dot – $ 50 (the version with a watch will cost $ 60), the children’s Echo Dot Kids will also cost $ 60, and the most advanced Echo Show 10 with a screen will be available for $ 250. Sales will start in October, but the Show 10 model will be delayed until December.
