Audeze Sine DX review

Launched under the name Sine, Audeze headphones are a separate world that is radically different from the well known LCD line. It is under the name Sine and iSine that planar headphones are produced that combine portability, compactness and light weight.

Being multiplied by proprietary technologies, all these factors cease to be ordinary, and a moderate price for its class warms up interest even more. One thing is frustrating: in the Sine series of on-ear headphones, Audeze has only one model left.

Design

Stylish modern design with an asymmetric cup shape captivates from the very first seconds. The durable aluminum frame and cup cases, decorated in genuine leather, visually assure that this model will last for many years. Swivel cups allow you to easily and tightly fix the headphones on the head of any user. In addition, this solution facilitates the transportation and packaging of the accessory.

The same quality factor and reliability are distinguished by external radiator. Despite the polymer design, they contribute to the formation of a general impression of the flagship Audeze as a very expensive, ergonomic and comfortable high-tech model of headphones.

A unique feature of the Sine headphones is the d-shaped diaphragm. If we were talking about a dynamic emitter, such a shape would be absurd and completely meaningless, but planars with a smaller working stroke and a sound coil distributed over the entire surface of the diaphragm can in principle have any shape. In this case, the outline, similar to the elongated letter D, perfectly fits into the design of the cups and allows you to maximize the use of their area. The cups, in turn, repeat the shape of the ear.

Experiments with the shape and reducing the size of the diaphragm to 80x70mm (relative to the 106-mm caliber of the LCD series) did not prevent the developers from using a full set of proprietary technologies: a special distribution scheme for the current-conducting tracks of Uniform, evenly distributing EMF over the entire working surface, matrices of powerful neodymium magnets Fluxor, providing the most uniform and strong magnetic field, phase-equalizing elements of Fazor, normalizing air movement and minimizing distortion. Thus, we are looking at nothing more than classic high End Audeze headphones only in miniature.

Sound

The ultrathin film membrane “Uniforce” of an impressive size with conductive tracks deposited on it is used as the sound of a coil. Moreover, it is almost completely devoid of distortion. High-quality Fluxor neodymium systems as magnets and Fazor waveguides dampen resonance and optimize the direction of sound waves.

In combination with the open case, the sound pattern of the older model of the LCD series turns out to be more voluminous and deep than that of the iSINE Lightning. The combination of structural and technological factors provides a delightfully smooth frequency response and a unique sound stage that can be enjoyed endlessly regardless of the genre of music being played.

Energetic and deep bass, magic high frequencies and impressive midrange are balanced and devoid of distortion. Thanks to these headphones, your favorite hits can open up new facets of their detail, play with new colors, reveal a lot of subtle nuances – so subtle and full-dimensional sound gets their owner.

Low impedance, minimal inductance and high sensitivity not only allow you to combine, but literally bless the Union of Sine DX with mobile players and smartphones from various manufacturers. The 3.5 mm nominal plug – Jack also indicates the intention to win over the mobile audience. However, the adapter from 3.5 to 6.3 m plus an acoustic cable length of 1.25 m suggests that the interests of home audiophiles were also taken into account.

Verdict

Due to its unique temperament, advanced technology and emotionally detailed transmission, this model has no analogues in the budget segment. You can look for something similar among professional and more expensive models. But if you want to get a loyal companion whose voice, even from a compact signal source, will repeatedly attract you wherever you are, just allow yourself one date with these headphones. This is one of those rare models that will definitely not leave anyone indifferent.
