Gen 2 Tivoli Audio Music System Home and Model One Digital Sound Systems: Mid 20th Design, 21st Century Functionality

The American Tivoli Audio continues the tradition of home radio combines of the middle of the last century with two just announced second-generation Music System Home and One Digital models. Both systems with the Generation 2 box are equipped with Google Chromecast and Apple Airplay 2 technologies, available thanks to the built-in Wi-Fi module. For current radio combines, the DAB / FM radio tuner has become quite logical. The Bluetooth module in such systems goes without saying.

Both new items partly inherit the design of the middle of the last century. The older one, Tivoli Music System Home Generation 2, has a completely “furniture” look. A sturdy wood-trimmed cabinet with aluminum panels and eco-fabric grills houses two 3.5 “woofers and a pair of 0.75” tweeters. Each of the speakers received its own amplifier – a configuration of 2 x 20 W + 2 x 8 W.

A central rotary ring and a pair of rotary-push encoders on the sides of it are intended for control. In the center of the ring there is a display with data on the operating mode. On the other hand, you won’t have to turn anything on the supplied remote control. Presets of settings are available in the system.

Google Chromecast and Apple Airplay 2 will enable both Tivoli Gen 2 models to stream audio from their supported sources, so future owners – Spotify, Apple Music, Google Play, Tidal, Deezer, Pandora, TuneIn, etc.

In addition to streaming, the owner of the Music System Home Generation 2 can use the 3.5mm optical digital and analogue AUX input. The wireless network connection is duplicated by a physical Ethernet port.

Model One Digital Generation 2 received a similar set of interfaces (only without optics) and functionality. The same materials were used in the finishing of the case – environmentally friendly fabric, wood and aluminum. Similar controls are complemented by a remote control. The main difference is in the drivers: a 3.5-inch long-throw full-range speaker driven by a class AB amplifier is installed.

The finishes for both new Tivoli Audio Generation 2 products are white-gray, walnut-gray, black ash-black.

The Tivoli Audio Model One Digital Generation 2 starts at $350 in the US, and the Music System Home Generation 2 starts at $850.
