Klipsch The Fives McLaren Edition active speakers with carbon fiber

The emergence of Klipsch The Fives McLaren Edition powered speakers, according to Klipsch – should be perceived as a growing partnership with McLaren Racing.

Klipsch The Fives McLaren Edition

What began last year with the in-ear Klipsch T5 II True Wireless Sport Earphone McLaren Edition, and then the Klipsch T5 II True Wireless ANC McLaren Edition, this time embodied in a pair of active speakers measuring 304.8×165.1×234.95mm.

If you compare the Klipsch The Fives McLaren Edition Powered Speaker to the regular “The Fives”, you’ll notice the orange anodized upper control panel nameplate on the top panel. The horn tweeter is also given an orange accent in McLaren’s signature style.

Klipsch The Fives McLaren Edition supports

Another difference is the speaker supports. Instead of the usual legs, the Klipsch The Fives McLaren Edition uses a whole rubber outsole on the entire lower plane, and even with the structure of a Formula 1 tire. True, not a racing slick, but an intermediate tire tread. But this did not affect the speed.

Klipsch The Fives McLaren Edition

The woofer of the Klipsch The Fives McLaren Edition has been seriously reworked. He received a diffuser made of “racing” carbon fiber, no less popular in acoustic systems. The manufacturer promised powerful and precise bass, backed by a high-frequency range, which is responsible for a 1-inch titanium diaphragm tweeter in the Klipsch Tractrix horn.

Ultra-Low Noise Amplifier

Otherwise, these are the same black MDF cases and architecture with a “master” and “slave” speaker, when all the electronics is located in the first of them. A pair of separate amplifiers deliver 60 watts each for the woofers and 20 watts for the tweeters. By the way, the cable connecting the speakers is also made in the McLaren aesthetic.

The Klipsch The Fives McLaren Edition receives an input signal on a pair of RCA connectors. Their function switches from the line-in option to the MM phono preamp mode – and it is important not to confuse them. Another analog input is a 3.5mm stereo mini-jack.

For digital signals, optical S/PDIF is suitable. In addition, a PC or Mac can be connected via USB (resolutions up to 24-bit/192 kHz are supported). Also, HDMI CEC is not forgotten for working with a TV controlled by a “television” remote control.

Klipsch The Fives McLaren Edition choice of connections

The choice of connections is completed by the Bluetooth 5.0 module for music from mobile gadgets. In addition to the network cable and the 4th connecting cable, the kit includes a USB Type-B to USB Type-A cable and an HDMI cable. An infrared remote control is provided for control.
