The Cure’s Robert Smith appears on Gorillaz’s new single
British virtual group Gorillaz has revealed on Twitter that Robert Smith of The Cure will feature on their new single. This will be the band’s next work in the “Song Machine” series, which features guest musicians. The project was announced in January this year, it consists of ten episodes and is timed to coincide with the twentieth anniversary of the team. The previous release was called “PAC-MAN” and featured rapper ScHoolboy Q.
Earlier editions of “Song Machine” have included rappers Slowthai and Octavian, groups Slaves and Georgia, Malian singer and actress Fatumata Diawara, and Joy Division founder Peter Hook. Also on the occasion of their 20th anniversary, the group is preparing to release the comic book ALMANAC. It is supposed to be annual. The first release is expected in October this year.
