Updated Piega Coax Gen2 LTD versions
The Swiss company Piega SA showed at the Munich High End 2022 exhibition improved special versions of the Piega Coax Gen2 series speakers – the Piega Coax 311 LTD, Piega Coax 511 LTD and Piega Coax 711 LTD models.
The novelties are interesting because almost all the main technological developments of the Swiss brand are presented in the Coax Gen2 series. Among them are updated versions of coaxial mid-bass ribbon drivers Piega C112 and Piega C212, equipped with additional magnets, installed in new products. Their cabinets, according to the Piega concept, are made of extruded aircraft-grade aluminum.
Piega Coax 711 LTD
The top model of the three others, the Piega Coax 711 LTD floorstanders, are equipped with a C212 ribbon coax, and four 220mm cones operate at low frequencies – two from the amplifier, two as passive radiators. For the older model, the range is from 22Hz to 50kHz and the sensitivity is 92dB. With an impedance of 4 ohms, the recommended amplifier power for the Piega Coax 711 LTD should be up to 250 watts.
Piega Coax 511 LTD
In the 511th Piega Coax Gen2 model, all these drivers are reduced in size – the woofers have a diameter of 160mm, the C112 ribbon driver is also smaller in size. The result – at a height of 115 cm, this floor speaker has a front panel width of 22 cm. Its frequency range has risen at the bottom by 10Hz, and its sensitivity has dropped by 2dB – size matters.
Piega Coax 311 LTD
Bookshelf model Piega Coax 311 LTD is made of an aluminum profile of the same geometry as that of Piega Coax 511 LTD. It’s just that out of 4 UHQD woofers with a diameter of 160mm, he got only one. Accordingly, the lower frequency limit has risen to 35Hz, and the sensitivity is 90dB. For Coax 311 LTD, the manufacturer recommends an amplifier with a power of up to 200 watts.
Availability and price
All three models are already available, in Europe the Piega Coax 311 LTD costs 4,900 euros per piece, the Piega Coax 511 LTD costs 5,950 euros per piece and the Piega Coax 711 LTD costs 9,950 euros per piece.
