Denon AVC-A110 AV receiver: fast sound, deep bass and endless treble

Denon is celebrating a solid 110th anniversary this year, and is celebrating this big date in a big way with several very different products. Among them is the flagship AV receiver (which the company itself calls an AV amplifier) AVC-A110. According to a press release, when developing the new product, Denon chose the word “abyss” as a central characteristic: the sound should be fast, the bass should be deep and with good resolution, the treble should be infinite, the body should be mechanically stable, and the heat should be efficiently dissipated.

The result is a 13.2-channel model that creates “the most immersive home theater atmosphere” thanks to support for all popular surround sound formats: Dolby Atmos, DTS: X, DTS: X Pro, IMAX Enhanced, Auro-3D and others. The receiver is ready to work with 8K -60 Hz signal (and supports signal upscaling up to this resolution), with 4K signal at 120 Hz, meets the latest HDMI specifications and, according to the developers, allows you to build the best home theater system in 4K with a headroom for future transition to 8K.

For those who plan to create a gaming station based on the receiver, there are Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) and Quick Frame Transport (QFT) functions. which will help reduce latency and lag without breaking frames, immersing players deeper into the process.

It’s serious on the inside: monolithic amplifier design, 8.2kg high-precision copper base transformer with custom 22,000uF / 80V capacitors (with anniversary logo printed on them). As a result, 150 W per 8 Ohm is output per channel with simultaneous loading of two channels. More than 100 changes have been made to the DAC circuit compared to the previous flagship model, the X8500H.

The copper traces on the board have become thicker, and the resistance of the signal lines, power lines and ground lines has been reduced by engineers. The internal chassis of the receiver is painted black, and the external case, like all devices of the anniversary series, has an unusual silver-graphite shade.

Lots of connectors: eight HDMI inputs and three outputs, including a separate input for 8K sources with support for the latest dynamic HDR standards. The main HDMI output is equipped with eARC audio output, allowing for Dolby Atmos and DTS: X object-based standards.

We have not forgotten about the proprietary HEOS multi-room system – the receiver supports full functionality, including interaction with all streaming services, voice assistants and Apple AirPlay 2. The Denon AVC-A110 receiver will be on sale in October and will cost in Europe 5,500 euro.
