DAC RT Audio Design Orpheus SE has improved switching and element base

The Bulgarian company Ratzov Tsenkov Audio Design (RT Audio Design) has upgraded its Orpheus Hi-Res USB DAC to the Orpheus SE version. We already talked about the original version of the device a year and a half ago. The Orpheus SE is the next design by Tsvetan Tsenkov of RT Audio, this time equipped with higher-end connectivity and components.

To convert USB-l2S, the new product used an XMOS transceiver with galvanic isolation. The system is powered completely silently – it is provided by a 12-volt battery with a capacity of 2.2 Ah, which is charged from an external power source. One charge cycle allows you to listen to music for 4 hours.

The Xilinx CPLD reclocker is responsible for the reduced jitter in the circuit. The heart of the Orpheus SE, the BurrBrown DAC, feeds the analog signal to the Lundahl LL 1545A step-up transformers.

The Orpheus SE accepts S / PDIF, coaxial, AES / EBU and USB input. The analog output is only available in the unbalanced RCA version.
