Apple HomePod and HomePod Mini will support lossless after firmware

According to Apple’s latest announcements, Apple’s HomePod and HomePod Mini smart speakers will support lossless digital audio formats. This should happen with a future software update.

Basically, this information does not conflict with Apple’s recent admission that both speakers do not support lossless. It just turned out that there is an opportunity to rectify the situation.

But now HomePod plays Dolby Atmos. Tracks mixed in this format can also be found on Apple Music. As for lossless, Apple Music promised more than 20 million tracks in this capacity already in June, and by the end of the year their number will almost quadruple.

Apple has not yet announced the release date for the promised update.
