Apple Music adds lossless and Hi-Res streaming at no extra charge

Now Apple has already published an official announcement of lossless and Hi-Res streaming. According to the company, uncompressed content and Hi-Res files will be open to all subscribers – there is no additional cost for access to lossless music.

According to Apple, the service’s library contains over 75 million tracks in uncompressed formats. Surround sound in Dolby Atmos will be provided by the proprietary surround sound technology Spatial Audio – and the company encouraged artists to mix tracks in this format: the description says that together with Dolby they offer convenient tools for creating such melodies. There are several thousand such tracks in the Apple Music library.

Uncompressed content will be available in ALAC format and from 16 bit / 44.1 kHz to 24 bit / 192 kHz. The quality of the stream can be selected in the settings.
