Astell & Kern AK Zero1: Hybrid three drivers In-Ear Monitor

The Astell & Kern AK Zero1 hybrid in-ear monitors became the first Astell & Kern model, in which the engineers used three different types of drivers: a standard 5.6mm dynamic, a Micro Rectangular Planar driver and two BA technology driver. According to the Astell & Kern, the combination of different drivers made it possible to achieve the most balanced and natural sound.

Micro Rectangular Planar drivers are specially designed planar drivers with membranes that have been adapted for miniature internal headphone chambers. The main feature of these drivers is their ability to reproduce high frequencies in high quality – Astell & Kern promised “crystal” highs.

Dual BA drivers feature special voice coils for clear vocals with minimal distortion. Dynamic 5.6mm drivers are designed to enrich sound with confident deep bass. The company also drew attention to crossovers that correctly distribute the signal according to the type of drivers, and to acoustic chambers, which were created separately for each driver using the 3D printing method.
