Hiby R6 2020: Dual DAC ES9038Q2M with separate generators running Android 9 hiby OS
Hiby has announced the R6 portable player in the 2020 version. Just the day before, the younger hiby model under the R5 index also entered the market in an upgraded version of the Saber. According to hiby, the new R6 2020 will create ” balanced yet inspiring sound quality in a vibrant visual manner.” The design of the silver or black aluminum case has also been transformed — according to the manufacturer, with a predominance of bold, straight lines.
The player is built on the basis of the Snapdragon 660 processor chipset and runs the updated Android 9 hiby OS. It is optimized for audio functions — while the installation of applications in the system is not limited. The five-inch Full HD screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass and powered by an Adreno 512 GPU. On board the new product — 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of permanent memory, which can be supplemented with up to 2 TB (microSD).
As for the audio track, it has a dual ES9038Q2M DAC with separate quartz oscillators for frequencies of 45.1584 and 49.152 MHz. It is claimed that such a configuration is able to resolve the “frequency conflict” and ensure a low level of jitter. The device handles DSD512 and PCM up to 32 bit/768 kHz.
In the analog part, there are OPA 1612 operatives in combination with low-impedance Panasonic and Elna capacitances. The linear stage and gain stages operate from two independent isolated power supplies. At the same time, the built-in battery lasts for 8.5 hours of operation in a balanced connection.
The R6 2020 has four variants of balanced and unbalanced switching output connectors, which can work both as headphone outputs (volume is controlled by the Alps rotary encoder) and as line outputs.
The new product supports MQA 16x, can work via Bluetooth (both for reception and transmission), and control via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth from a smartphone is also available (the hibymusic app). In addition, remote DLNA and AirPlay playback and music file transfer via Wi-Fi are supported.
