iFi Neo iDSD DAC/Headphone Amplifier: Supports DSD, DXD, MQA and Balanced Circuitry
Desktop DAC / Headphone Amplifier iFi Neo iDSD is a compact audiophile device for listening to music in Hi-Res. The emphasis was placed on versatility and the ability to work with different formats.
The device received three main modes: DAC for connection to a full amplifier or preamplifier; DAC preamplifier for connection to a power amplifier or an active speaker; Headphone Amplifier.
The digital basis of the device is a chip from Burr Brown with True Native architecture. A specially selected XMOS microcontroller works with this converter. According to the developers, the bundle provides high sound quality and high performance.
Neo iDSD can handle PCM audio up to 32 bit / 786 kHz, as well as DSD512 and DXD. In addition, the device is able to decode MQA. Three devices can be connected to the DAC simultaneously via USB, optical and coaxial inputs.
A fourth source can also be connected via Bluetooth. By the way, the wireless module supports all the most advanced formats: aptX Adaptiv / aptX HD, LDAC / LHDC, aptX / aptX Low Latency, AAC and SBC.
As for the analog part, it is made on the PureWave “dual mono” circuit. The rear panel provides one balanced XLR output and one standard RCA output.
There is a 6.3 mm and 4.4 mm Pentaconn jack for connecting headphones. According to the manufacturer, the Neo iDSD is compatible with both in-ear monitors and audiophile full-size headphones, including planar models (output power – more than 1,000 watts at 32 ohms).
In addition to everything else, the Neo iDSD has a display on which the device displays all the most important information. You can install the device vertically or horizontally.
In the UK market, the new iFi Neo iDSD Headphone DAC/Amp is priced at £700.
