Plinius and Pureaudio founder Gary Morrison dies

Gary Morrison, co-founder of Plinius and Pureaudio, a New Zealand audio and acoustic component manufacturer, passed away on Thursday 11 February. It was Morrison who was the main designer of the technology of these brands, especially in the circuitry of amplifiers operating in pure class A.

In designs he preferred simplicity and the shortest possible signal paths paired with the best components available on the market. As a result, the technology designed by Morrison, when operated in pure class A, “skillfully balanced between tube heat and transistor precision.”

The cause of death was melanoma, which Gary had been struggling with for some time.
