Rotel Upgrades RSP-1576 and RAP-1580 Cinema Systems: MKII Versions Get Dirac Support
Rotel has introduced updated MKII DC devices: RSP-1576MKII surround processor and RAP-1580MKII processor / multichannel amplifier. Both devices received Dirac auto-calibration. According to the manufacturer, the Dirac system will accurately adjust the sound to any room. The RSP-1576MKII surround processor supports configurations up to 7.1.4 channels in Dolby Atmos and DTS: X formats. It uses an array of six Wolfson DACs and includes Dirac Live Full software (with measurement microphone). The algorithm will provide automatic tuning in the frequency and time domain in the range of 20 Hz – 20 kHz.
The press release notes that the RSP-1576MKII utilizes Rotel’s Balanced Design Concept, a custom low distortion toroidal transformer, and low distortion noise suppression topology. The RSP-1576MKII features seven HDMIs. -inputs with 4K resolution and HDR technology, as well as two HDMI outputs with 4K and HDR. Video processing is complemented by audio inputs: XLR, USB (24 bit / 192 kHz), optical, coaxial, analog to RCA, iPod USB, aptX Bluetooth, and Phono for MM heads. Tuning functions are available through the OSD as well as the front display. The RAP-1580MKII has seven channels of Class AB amplification. The model is equipped with a large-sized toroidal transformer of our own production and storage capacitors with perforated plates.
The device delivers 100W per channel at 8 ohms with all channels working and up to 200W power at 4 ohms with two working channels. A 4-core DSP from Texas Instruments and six Wolfson DACs, according to Rotel, will deliver premium high-quality sound with “deep stage”. In terms of audio calibration, a microphone and Dirac software are included. The RAP-1580MKII has a full set of inputs including optical, coaxial, analog, XLR, iPod USB, USB (24/192), aptX Bluetooth. There are eight HDMI inputs, three of which support 4K / HDR pass-through. HDMI outputs support 4K resolution.
The company noted that several amplifier configuration options are available to reroute internal amplifiers to overhead and surround channels, as well as provide the ability to use external main channel amplifiers for larger home theaters. RS232 and Ethernet interfaces. There are also three independent 12V trigger outputs, wired IR input and output. The cost of new products is still unknown.
