TAD 6L6GCM-STR Redbase: 85 years revamped version of the 6L6GC lamp

The TAD 6L6GCM-STR Redbase Power Beam Tetrode is nothing more than a modern version of the “Harris lamp” created by British engineer J. Owen Harries back in 1935. The novelty of that time made it possible to seriously improve the operation of tube amplifiers. Its final version of RCA production is considered an imperishable tube classic from the 60s of the last century to the present day.

The German company TAD (Tube Amp Doctor, not Technical Audio Devices – that Japanese) introduced the 6L6GCM-STR Redbase as a completely new development. The lamp is ready to dissipate power up to 30 W and is intended for use in power amplifiers in pentode, super-linear or triode versions for single-ended, push-pull and parallel circuits.

The novelty is produced in Germany on a specially created production line for it. Each lamp undergoes additional annealing and calibration.

In terms of pinout and characteristics, the 6L6GCM-STR is completely suitable for almost any amplifier using 6L6GC or 5881 tubes. The name Redbase is associated with the red color of the 6L6GCM-STR base.

The TAD 6L6GCM-STR Redbase Power Beam Tetrode is already available in Germany at a price of €35 including VAT.
