Archie Shepp 1974 Paris Concert to be released on vinyl for the first time

Excerpts from a performance by the quintet of jazz saxophonist Archie Shepp, held in March 1974 at Le Studio 104 in Paris, prepared for the first vinyl release. This concert has not yet been released and was considered a “lost album”. This intense jazz will be released on Transversales Disques in July this year.

The full title of the album is “Live in Paris” (1974). It was mastered from the original master tapes. In addition to the vinyl itself, the release includes notes and photographs. In addition, Live in Paris will also be available digitally.

The quintet then included: Archie Shepp – saxophone, Noël McGhie – drums, Bob Reid – double bass, Pablo Kino – drums, Siegfried Kessler – piano. The tracklist of the album consists of only three compositions, however, up to 24 minutes long: Things Have Got To Change, Along Came Betty, Blues For Donald Duck.

Album “Live in Paris” will be released on July 2, 2021 – in Europe it is already available for pre-order at a price of 25 euros.
