Avalon Acoustics will appear on the Russian market

The American brand Avalon Acoustics has existed since 1989 and produces one-piece and expensive acoustics. Production volumes are measured at best in tens of pairs annually.

Each Avalon Acoustics model is designed entirely from the ground up, but the process uses proprietary technologies and features. So, acoustics cases always have a complex shape, with cut corners on the front panel, curved and inclined planes, and the thickness of the MDF walls sometimes reaches 9 cm.

The sophisticated internal brace and tie system is said to improve stability, while the inside walls are papered with a special damping material developed by the company. Outside – natural veneer of various types of wood, in older models – valuable. There is also a multi-layer coating of a special varnish, with intermediate polishing of each layer by hand.

Crossovers adapt to the characteristics of specific cases: the slightest change in the case during the development process – and the crossover is recalculated. The founder of the company, in the past the main developer, and now the ideologist of the brand, Neil Patel, explains it this way: “A driver is like a muscle in the body – it cannot work without receiving commands from the brain.” The brain, of course, is a crossover.

Speakers installed in acoustics are most often made by well-known manufacturers according to the company’s specifications. At the midrange, radiators with ceramic cones are mainly used, tweeters – exclusively with patented neodymium magnet systems, in most models – with concave domes.

Ceramic tweeters, carbon tweeters are widely used, but there are also famous ring designs. Some models have diamond tweeters. Woofers – with composite cones, often made of Nomex-Kevlar material. In doing so, each emitter is individually tested and selected to ensure optimal performance.

In 2020, the production program includes seven speaker models. Four of the newest line of Precision Monitors: PM1 (these are the most affordable full-fledged floor-standing Avalons at the moment – the so-called “Club Entrance Ticket”), PM1, PM1, and three models of the flagship family: Isis , Saga and exclusive top end Tesseract.
