Bowers & Wilkins update the 600 series
This year, Bowers & Wilkins’ 600 series of acoustics turned a quarter of a century, and the company decided to mark the memorable date with an anniversary update of the line. and the central channel HTM6 S2.
Also, subwoofers ASW608, ASW610 and ASW610XP are going to the new generation without changes. The company also offered a 5.1 home theater kit built around the new 603 S2, 607 S2 and HTM6 S2 along with an ASW610 subwoofer.
The first visible change is the finish. In addition to the classic black and white colors, the company offered a version with a white front panel and side surface in oak colors. All Anniversary Edition speakers also have a new festive logo applied to the edging of the tweeters, in either a light or dark finish, depending on the color of the rest of the speaker.
Among the technological changes, it is necessary to note the refinement of the crossover: it has new and significantly improved bypass capacitors, specially modified by Mundorf, which previously appeared in the 700 Signature line, as well as modernized the main high and medium frequency capacitors, due to which, as stated in the press release, “We managed to significantly improve the resolution and clarity of sound in all anniversary speakers”.
The acoustics used midrange/woofer diffusers made of Continuum proprietary material and tweeters with a double aluminum dome with vibration isolation. The Continuum floorstands feature dual 165mm woofers and a midrange driver from FST material and are expected to ship in Europe in September. Floor stands 603 S2 will cost 1,799 euro, stand 606 S2 – 749 euro, 607 S2 – 599 euro, just like the center channel.
