Cambridge Audio has released a new generation of SX acoustics. This is a budget series, which includes two bookshelf models, floor standing speakers, center channel acoustics and a subwoofer. According to representatives of the company, the presented acoustics will allow assembling an inexpensive but high-quality home theater system in 7.1 format, and will also look good in stereo.
Cambridge Audio opted for a matt black finish. All models, except for the subwoofer, are equipped with 25mm silk dome tweeters with an additional foam absorber behind the speaker, which, according to the developers, reduces the level of reflections and allows you to create a wide stage.
The midrange / woofers received paper cones. In the junior SX-50 shelves, speakers with a diameter of 13.5 cm are installed, in the large SX-60 shelves with a bass reflex mounted on the front panel – 16.5 cm, the speakers of the same caliber are installed in the SX-80 floor stands according to the d’Appolito scheme.
The center channel acoustics received midwoofers with a diameter of 10 cm. The cases of the models are made of MDF and are designed to minimize the formation of standing waves.
The subwoofer received one speaker with a diameter of 20 cm with a high amplitude of movement and two bass reflexes on the rear wall. It has separate controls for volume, phase and crossover frequency. The subwoofer plays in the range from 34 to 150 Hz. An automatic shutdown function is provided.
The floor model plays in the 40 Hz to 20 kHz range, the small shelf speakers range from 50 Hz to 21 kHz, and the large ones range from 41 Hz to 22 kHz.
The series is already on sale in the UK. The SX-50 stands for £179, the SX-60 £229, the SX-80 floorstands £399, the SX-70 center speaker £149 and the SX-120 subwoofer £199.
