FiiO K17 R2R Pro: Desktop R2R DAC, Streamer and Headphone Amplifier Unveiled

FiiO has officially announced the K17 R2R Pro, an ambitious all-in-one desktop unit combining a ladder DAC, network streamer, and high-powered headphone amplifier. The device draws on the engineering expertise behind the well-regarded K15 and K19, but steps things up with a fundamentally different approach to digital-to-analogue conversion.

R2R Ladder DAC at the Heart

The defining feature of the K17 R2R Pro is its resistive ladder (R2R) DAC architecture, configured in a 5 + 24-bit arrangement. Unlike delta-sigma chips found in most competing units, the discrete R2R design is prized by audiophiles for its natural, non-fatiguing sound character. Users can switch between NOS (non-oversampling) and OS (oversampling) modes, allowing for a choice between vintage-flavoured warmth and a more technically precise presentation.

FiiO has paired the DAC stage with a dedicated USB ground loop isolator to minimise interference from connected computers, and a robust 35-watt linear power supply — a deliberate choice that trades efficiency for cleaner, more stable power delivery.

Headphone Amplifier: Class AB, 4,000 mW

Driving the headphone output is a discrete Class AB amplifier stage rated at an impressive 4,000 mW per channel. That output figure means the K17 R2R Pro should handle virtually any headphone with ease — from sensitive in-ear monitors to demanding planar magnetic models such as those from Audeze or HiFiMan. Both single-ended and balanced outputs are available on the front panel alongside the 3.93-inch colour touchscreen.

Streaming and Connectivity

The K17 R2R Pro is equally capable as a network streamer. Dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) combines with Gigabit Ethernet, with support for QPlay on compatible devices. Local playback is covered via USB, and the unit can be controlled through the FiiO Control app, a built-in web interface, or the bundled aluminium IR remote.

For sound shaping, a 31-band parametric equaliser is built in, complete with an Auto EQ function. User profiles are stored in the device’s internal memory, so personalised settings are retained without needing a connected phone.

Price and Availability

FiiO will be showing the K17 R2R Pro publicly for the first time at High End Vienna 2026 in June. Pricing has not yet been disclosed, but the company has indicated that full details will be revealed at the show. Given the specification sheet — discrete R2R DAC, linear PSU, streaming, and 4 W of headphone power — expect it to sit above the existing K19 in both capability and cost.
