MHW Audio Levar Ultimate Carbon-Oil Tonearm

The Levar Ultimate Carbon-Oil tonearm will be available as a standalone product. Until now, the German company MHW Audio has installed it on their premium Levar Canzona and Levar Ultimate turntables. Now, due to the demand for this reference creation by Helmut Biermann of Magaudio, the company will sell it separately.

The new product will appear in lengths of 9, 10.5 and 12 inches and can be installed in both the sliding mount SME, and with an axis for standard holes with a diameter of 1 “(25.4 mm). As for the mount of the SME shell, it is not in question in this class of tonearms. On the contrary, according to MHW, the Ultimate Carbon-Oil tonearm is commercially available with a universal but non-removable cartridge mount.

The core of Ultimate Carbon-Oil is undoubtedly a backlash-free, single-point, self-aligning ball bearing that is designed to provide smooth oil damping.

The product is equipped with OFC copper feedthrough wiring, optionally replaceable with silver. A plug-in pad (grounding provided and optional XLR option) can be installed almost anywhere on the turntable base. For this, there are special mounts on it. Alternatively, the manufacturer is ready to use alternative connectors at the request of the future owner.

In Germany, the Levar Ultimate Carbon-Oil arm will be available tentatively at the end of April. The price will be 4,900 euros regardless of the length. For silver wiring you will have to pay an extra €290, and for XLR interconnection €390.
