Mod Electronics has expanded its selection of electrolytic and oil capacitors for classic analog audio
The American firm Mod Electronics, whose products include a lot of guitar electronics and acoustics (and in the form of DIY kits), offered various ratings of electrolytic and oil capacitors of their own production.
According to Mod, its oil-filled capacitors are handcrafted and are ideal for any analog audio component – including classic guitar and tube electronics. Each condenser is impregnated with mineral oil without air access, so its capacity is very stable. Mod Electronics Oil Capacitors Tolerance: ± 10%. They operate in temperatures from -20 ° C to + 80 ° C, rated for 600 V and available in capacities from 0.001 μF to 0.1 μF.
Mod Electronics aluminum electrolytic capacitors with aluminum oxide dielectric are designed for use in tube amplifiers. Their maximum operating temperature reaches 105 ° C. According to the manufacturer, these capacitors will provide devices with increased durability (a parameter that remains the weak point of electrolytic capacitors compared to other components).
It is for the tube amplifiers that the ratings of the Mod electrolytes are selected. Among them, you can select the capacitance values characteristic of many classic tube amplifier circuits, which are not always available on the market. Mod electrolytic capacitors are available in capacities from 1 μF to 250 μF for voltages from 25 to 500 V.
