Sony PlayStation 5 3D sound technology will be available only in headphones for now
In the announcements of the next-generation PlayStation 5 console, Sony actively talked about Tempest 3D AudioTech’s proprietary 3D sound system, thanks to which the immersive effect of games will be more tangible. However, the main feature of the new audio engine is that it will emulate three-dimensional sound on a variety of audio devices – both in headphones, and in TVs, and in stereos.
True, at the launch, it will be possible to evaluate its work only with headphones – the company announced this in its official blog. The company developed the Pulse 3D wireless headset specifically to unleash the full potential of the engine, but in addition to it, you can use other headphones connected to the console via USB or to the DualShock controller via a 3.5mm jack. The message says about “compatible” headphones, but there is no list of such headphones.
Also, the engine will not work in all games with which the new console starts. You can listen to 3D sound in Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, Astro’s Playroom, Gran Turismo 7, Returnal, Destruction AllStars, Demon’s Souls, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart ”,“ Sackboy: A Big Adventure ”,“ Horizon Forbidden West ”,“ Resident Evil Village ”and others.
Recall that the release of Sony PlayStation 5 is scheduled for November 19.
