SOtM iSO-CAT7 Passive Isolating Ethernet Filter
South Korea’s SOtM has unveiled the iSO-CAT7, a LAN isolation filter designed for high-quality audio systems.
The number of streaming audio components is growing rapidly, and the Ethernet port is often a source of unwanted interference from completely non-audiophile network devices. iSO-CAT7 is designed to neutralize all this negativity, surpassing the previous model with the iSO-CAT6 index.
Externally SOtM iSO-CAT7 differs from its predecessor only in the body material. In the previous version, it was translucent. This time, an opaque body made of red or gray smoky plastic is offered. The form factor has remained the same – in fact, it is a LAN-LAN adapter (RJ45).
The SOtM iSO-CAT7 Filter uses a fully shielded modular connector. Inside is a 10GBast-T compatible isolation transformer. No external power supply is required for SOtM iSO-CAT7. In addition, as an option, the manufacturer offered cables in three levels, which differ in color.
SOtM iSO-CAT7 pricing has yet to be announced. The previous version of the filter – SOtM iSO-CAT6 – costs $360 in the US.
