Spotify introduces a personalized Time Capsule playlist with nostalgic music

Music service Spotify has introduced a new personalized playlist called “Time Capsule”. The idea is that this playlist will include tracks that once shaped the user’s musical taste. The playlist was labeled “nostalgic”. The system will take into account the music lover’s age, country and favorite genres.

The new playlist can be accessed through the “Epochs” section or in the “For You” menu. Tracks will be updated periodically. According to Spotify, there won’t be two exactly the same playlists – each user gets a personalized selection.

According to a press release, the developers came up with the “Time Capusula” for the reason that users themselves increasingly began to manually create playlists with music from the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s. Now a clever algorithm can perform the same task.
