The updated Windows 10 will support the AAC Bluetooth codec
Microsoft has prepared an update for Windows 10 that will add support for the AAC Bluetooth codec. Thus, users will be able to experience enhanced sound quality, for example, on Apple AirPods. This will affect wireless audio streaming through any Apple app or service, including iTunes and Apple Music.
Previously, Windows 10 could stream Bluetooth audio to aptX and SBC. Some Apple audio device owners lacked wireless ACC support. This standard is also used by Sony and Nintendo.
The update will be released later this year, but members of the Windows Insider program may already have access to testing the new feature in Preview Build 21370.
Among other things, the update will simplify the work with Bluetooth profiles, which will allow you to switch from one device to another in a simplified mode, and applications will stop making mistakes when connecting to wireless headphones and speakers. In addition, the system will automatically be able to select a device for audio output in a given situation.
