TinHiFi T2 Evo Review
TinHiFi recently introduced the fourth earphone in its budget line “T2”. The TinHiFi T2 Evo is a one-driver model with a carbon-based composite diaphragm. The T2 Evo are dynamic earphone, but they sound as smooth, balanced and detailed as possible, somewhat reminiscent of armature driver. At the time of this review, the price of the T2 Evo is $49. Let’s take a closer look at the new model.
There are four earphone models in the lineup: T2, T2 Plus, T2 Pro and T2 Evo. There is only one color available for purchase (silver). The packaging has remained largely unchanged since the Tin Audio T2. The headphones are delivered in a white rectangular box:
The TinHiFi T2 Evo are fixed in special compartments on the foam podium in box. Thus, they are protected from all sides, and they are fixed as expected, during transportation they do not move or fly out.
The TinHiFi T2 Evo set include:
- TinHiFi T2 Evo
- Memory Foam tips x 1
- Silicone tips x 6 (s/m/l size)
- Storage Bag x 1
- MMCX cable x 1
The earpads are not fit for everybody, they seemed to us too thin, in ears such ear pads are not really fixed. As a result, questions arise about sound insulation, but foam eartips solve problem. Blue foam eartips cut the high frequency range, making the delivery less detailed.
8-core cable, tightly braided. In general, a standard cable for this segment, it does not remember the shape and does not get confused. The structure is secured by a transparent rubberized insert (the so-called breakage protection).
The behind ear cable are a little tight and lack softness. The left and right channels were separated by color marking, as well as by a special application of L-R.
Design
TinHiFi T2 Evo are made of aircraft grade aluminum. The build is excellent, the body are very neat, designed for a behind-the-ear fit – which was not in the first version. Who cares about the classic cable – down fit – look for a lace with straight earhooks like the T2. Of the minuses, we can note too tight MMCX connectors, the cable is disconnected with great effort. The mount is not the most durable.
On the outside of the earphone, there is one compensation hole and an arcuate cutout.
Another compensation hole near the sound guide. The sound guide itself is of medium length, with a side to hold the attachments. The metal protective mesh is also in place.
The connected wire rotates on its axis, but it rolls quite tightly. There were no problems with contact, the sound at the moment of shaking the head is not interrupted.
Sound
The sound of the TinHiFi T2 Evo is dominated by the upper mids and lower highs. Foam eartips help smooth highs for a softer sound. In general, the sound is light, airy and bright.
Low frequencies play a secondary role. The bass is neat, very precise and fast. But for pop and various electronic music, it is not enough. The equalizer does not affect the perception of the low frequency range. We note very good intelligibility, lower-register musical instruments are perfectly readable.
Compared to the previous TinHiFi models, the detail in T2 Evo has increased, excessive warmth in the sound is gone. The mids have become more open, with a rise in the upper midrange. The virtual stage is wide, but it is still not the most voluminous, the depth of the imaginary scene is relatively weak. The detail in the middle range is excellent, you can hear subtle sounds and various nuances in classical and instrumental tracks.
The high frequencies are typical for T2 series of earphones – extended and airy. We recommend using foam tips for a more correct presentation of this range.
It should be noted that TinHiFi T2 Evo have enough volume margin, our test Earmen TR-Amp DAC/AMP was only used at one-quarter volume on almost all of the recordings we listened to.
Conclusions
Pretty good dynamic earphones with elaborate sound and excellent detail for this segment and price. TinHiFi T2 Evo has a quality build, reliable construction and nice materials. A good model in its price range. In general, TinHiFi T2 Evo is a fairly universal model that does not have obvious flaws in the sound presentation; it will be able to honestly play most of the instrumental styles of music, electronics and even classics.
