Audio-Technica launches AT-PEQ30 low-cost phono stage for MM and MC cartridges
The Audio-Technica AT-PEQ30 phono amplifier is assembled in a compact chassis about 20 cm wide. According to the company, the circuit with input stages on field-effect transistors was implemented on high-quality elements. The novelty works with MM (Moving Magnet) and MC (Moving Coil) cartridges. The cartridge type is selected by the position of the button on the front panel. The rest of the parameters are fixed.
In particular, the input impedance, which for the MM cartridge is 47 kOhm and 120 Ohm for the MC. The normal input signal for a novelty is 4.5 or 0.28 mV, respectively. The AT-PEQ30 is designed to play discs recorded with RIAA curve correction.
The silver metal case of the AT-PEQ30 is said to serve as an excellent shield against interference. The corrector is powered by an external 15V AC adapter. Outputs and inputs are gold-plated unbalanced RCA connectors, supplemented with a screw ground terminal.
In the US, the Audio-Technica AT-PEQ30 phono stage will cost $230.
