Blue Note Records to reissue McCoy Tyner’s “Tender Moments” album

Blue Note Records will reissue pianist / composer McCoy Tyner’s second album, recorded on this label in 1968.

The improvisational “Tender Moments” set was created in collaboration with prominent musicians of the time: Lee Morgan on trumpet, Julian Priester on trombone, Bennie Maupin on tenor saxophone, James Spaulding ) on alto saxophone and flute, Bob Northern on French horn, Howard Johnson on tuba, Herbie Lewis on bass, and Joe Chambers on drums. The album features tributes to John Coltrane on the track “Mode to John” and to Thelonious Monk (“The High Priest”).

Tender Moments will be released in the Tone Poet series. As usual, great attention has been paid to the quality of the material. The mastering was done by Kevin Gray of Cohearent Audio directly from master tapes recorded 52 years ago.

The 180 gram vinyl will be printed by Record Technology Incorporated (RTI). The release will be released on November 20, 2020. The re-release of Tender Moments is now available for pre-order. Its cost in the United States is $ 35.
