Disney+ introduces Star section with popular movies and TV series in 4K Dolby Vision
Disney + Video Services has launched a new Star section in Europe, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore. In this section with selected films, users will be able to find content from Disney Television Studios, FX, 20th Century Studios, 20th Television, and ABC Signature. For example, Star already has Die Hard, Deadpool 2, Pretty Woman, Borat, The X-Files, Sons of Anarchy, Desperate Housewives and other popular films and shows.
According to Disney +, new content will be added every month. First of all, this applies to films and shows from Fox, since today Disney is at the stage of resolving copyright issues with other services. Apparently, Disney is going to do it in its favor so that Disney+ subscribers can get all the content they want.
Rebecca Campbell, Global Head of The Walt Disney Company, explained that the Star section was created to make the service even more interesting and useful. Rebecca stated that through Star, users will have an “incredible collection of quality movies and shows” for the entire family.
Separately, we note that some of the content from the new section is already available in 4K Dolby Vision quality. The service also promised Dolby Atmos sound, but this option is not yet available everywhere.
The launch of the Star service affected the cost of Disney +. Annual and monthly subscriptions have become more expensive by about 20% (depending on the country). In Europe, a month of Disney+ now costs 9 euros (current subscribers were given another six months “at the old prices”).
