English Acoustics Stereo 41c tube amplifier with EL506 output pentodes

The absolutely British company English Acoustics introduced the Stereo 41c tube amplifier. The novelty was the development of its predecessor, the Stereo 21c model. Powerful EL506 pentodes work in the final stage.

The English Acoustics Stereo 41c was developed largely based on feedback from the company’s customers. The power button migrated to the front panel and became much more convenient, on the rear panel the balanced inputs were supplemented with unbalanced ones, and even the left and right channel terminals were swapped.

Dual mono design

Otherwise, it is still “dual mono” with proprietary output transformers. The novelty is capable of delivering up to 25W per channel in the frequency range of 8Hz – 60kHz with a declared signal-to-noise ratio better than 90dB, and distortion of less than a tenth of a percent. The sound is promised “smooth, but rhythmic“.

Automotive painted steel chassis

The steel chassis and condenser casings, which English Acoustics claims are made to a precision that watchmakers would envy, can be painted in any color the customer desires – but there is also a ready-made palette of 12 shades to choose from. The coating is applied using the same technology as in the automotive industry.

Availability and price

The English Acoustics Stereo 41c tube amplifier will be available in April, price starting at £7,500 in the UK, depending on colours.
