New CD-player Accuphase DP-450 with MDS technology on ESS DAC
The Japanese company Accuphase introduced the CD player DP-450 – it is the successor of the technology of the high-class SACD/CD player DP-570.
The device has been seriously updated with a newly developed drive mechanism and a new chassis frame. Earlier it was a 7-section chassis, but now it has only two sections: the digital circuit is on the right side and the analog circuit is on the left. And each unit is placed so that the signal path is as short as possible.
10 times higher reading precision
According to the manufacturer, special attention was paid to noise and vibration suppression during the development of the DP-450. New materials and shapes were used in special visco-elastic dampers – according to Accuphase, as a result, external vibrations now affect the laser sensor by 50% less. At the same time, the DP-450’s reading accuracy has increased tenfold.
ESS Technology
The Accuphase DP-450 is equipped with a 32-bit Hyper Stream ES9026PRO DAC from ESS Technology. In total, the DP-450 uses four parallel DACs per channel in a fully balanced structure, according to the improved proprietary Accuphase MDS (MultipleDeltaSigma+) technology.
As a result, the signal-to-noise ratio in the DP-450 reached 119 dB. The novelty has received coaxial, optical and USB inputs, the latter accepting up to 32 bit/384 kHz PCM or 11.2896 MHz DSD.
Coaxial and Optical Transport outputs
As a CD transport, the DP-450 outputs a digital signal to the coaxial and optical outputs. And since the DAC and CD-player sections can work separately, you can easily connect, for example, an Accuphase DG-68 digital equalizer between them.
The Accuphase DP-450 displays the operating parameters on the front display, and it is convenient to control the device using the complete remote control. In terms of design, this is a typical representative of the Accuphase catalog.
Accuphase DP-450 cost about $7300
