Sony WF-1000XM4 headphone video review leaked: LDAC codec, DSEE Extreme technology and Speak-to-Chat function
A full video description of the upcoming fully wireless Sony WF-1000XM4 headphones has been posted on Reddit. Headphones can be viewed from all sides, learn a lot about the stuffing and the technologies used – in particular, the features of the improved speakers are shown.
The new product implements the proprietary Speak-to-Chat function – playback is disabled if the owner of the headphones starts talking to someone. In addition, the video says that the model is certified Hi-Res Audio and will support the proprietary LDAC Bluetooth codec (it seems to be the first among similar Sony products). The DSEE Extreme oversampling technology is designed to improve the sound of compressed audio. Support for 360 Reality Audio is expected (following the WF-1000XM3).
The video also confirmed the water resistance of the Sony WF-1000XM4 according to the IPX4 standard. It became clear that the earbuds will be compatible with Qi wireless charging. Independently, with the ANC system turned on, they will work up to eight hours and one and a half times longer without it. The battery case, judging by the video, is capable of providing two full charges, and 5 minutes spent with the charger accumulates energy for an hour’s work.
In fact, the information obtained from the video lacks only the officially announced release dates and prices of the future Sony WF-1000XM4.
However, in one of the leaks last week, a preliminary figure has already appeared: 280 euros for the European market.
