The statistical research company Strategy Analytics has shared information about the Bluetooth headset market. In this most popular segment of consumer electronics, TWS-headphones are “ahead of the rest”: this year they will account for 70% of the market. Ville-Petteri Ukonaho, Deputy Director of Strategy Analytics, said that “TWS Bluetooth headphones are now more functional than ever.”
Among the reasons for the growing popularity of fully wireless headsets are indicated their advanced functions: ANC, heart rate monitoring (available in about 4% of TWS headphones), waterproof, wireless charging. The TWS form factor turned out to be one of the most convenient.
TWS’s capabilities are growing thanks to developers of specialized chips called “systems on a chip” (SoC) like Qualcomm’s Clear Voice Capture solutions. Other manufacturers have joined them: Realtek, AppoTech, Actions, BES, Cypress – the list goes on.
Under these conditions, TWS prices are expected to fall. Strategy Analytics said that in 2021, “52% of all TWS noise canceling headphones will have a wholesale price of $ 50 or less, making them more affordable to more consumers”. This is another important reason for the growth in popularity.
