UK Music Venue Trust for the Protection of Private Music Clubs warns of critical situation
The Music Venue Trust (MVT), a UK-based advocacy and development organization for private music clubs, has complained of the critical situation.
According to MVT representatives, today several dozen music establishments are under threat of immediate closure, and a number of venues are on the “red” list (that is, they may be closed in the near future). This applies to different cities and towns in the UK.
Mark Davyd, head of MVT, said at least six music bars are in urgent need of help. Another 14 establishments may hold out until the end of the pandemic crisis, but this is not certain. It all depends on the support of patrons, artists and live music lovers.
According to MVT, music clubs will be able to survive on funds raised through Save Our Venues crowdfunding campaigns. The British and all caring music lovers were invited to make donations in exchange for commemorative T-shirts, sweaters, hats and masks. I must say that the program is working well: according to official information, about 900,000 pounds have been raised for the entire time, and a total of 1,750,000 pounds is required.
