Sonos S2 software update: more language and multi-channel PCM audio support for Arc Soundbar
Sonos has released an update to the Sonos S2 software platform. The update will add Russian language support to the system, along with Turkish, Korean and Traditional Chinese.
In addition, new features will appear for the Arc soundbar, which was announced in the spring and replaced the Playbar and Playbase models. The new version of Sonos S2 software, index 12.2, will provide Arc compatibility with multi-channel PCM audio when connected to a TV via eARC. Naturally, this will happen provided that the TV itself works with eARC.
Multichannel PCM will allow you to use Arc for surround sound in a variety of applications, such as games on Nintendo Switch or PC. Prior to the update, Arc is already compatible with Dolby Digital 5.1 and Dolby Atmos.
Sonos S2 software is compatible with a variety of Sonos models and runs on Android 7.0, iOS 11, iPadOS 13, macOS 10.11, Windows 7, or later of these operating systems.
